| 2. The Day the Water Died: Hebei Spirit Oil Spill Disaster |
|
|
| This workshop is designed to rouse public awareness on the worst environmental disaster of Hebei Spirit oil spill in Korea that struck Taean last December. Various speakers who have been on the scene making all efforts to better the situation will be present not only to remind the ongoing disaster but also to discuss possible actions to cope with it. |

A linguist by training and a native of Sweden, Helena Norberg-Hodge has examined and criticized conventional notions of development. She is also the author of numerous works,
including highly acclaimed ¡®Ancient Futures: Learning from Ladakh¡¯, who has been trying to preserve the strength of Ladakh culture facing changes of globalization and urbanization.
After a screening of the documentary related to the book, a talk with her about how changes of living environment affect on people and culture will be following. |
